Management Board

The unconfirmed Minutes from the last Management Board meeting, held on 7th May 2015 are available to CEC Group Members on the CEC Web Site.

Test Monitoring System

In future, the funding required to bring a new test into the TMS should be found from within the sponsorship funding process & this will be noted in future invitations to sponsor a new test development.

Chris Gray was thanked for all his support of the TMS and the considerable effort that he puts in to making it a success.

TDG-L-104 – OM646 Effects of Biodiesel

At this stage, a test can still be developed, but a strategy needs to be presented to the CEC Management Board for approval.  No sponsorship funds remain for additional testing.

TDG-L-107 – M271 Sludge Test

Sufficient contingency sponsorship funds have been agreed by the CEC Management Board to be released to pay for part of these tests. An extension to the contract with the lead laboratory needs to be produced and approved, before further funding is released.

TDG-T-108 – Pitting Test

Unexpected results in the Round Robin are being investigated & consequently have delayed the expected completion date of Phase 2.

TDG-F-110 IDID Test

SDG will shortly give the go ahead to all participants for the main Round Robin, with test data being made available at the next groups meeting, 10th June 2015. Statistical analysis completion is expected in Q3 2015.

TDG-L-111 - Gasoline Cleanliness Test

The Round-Robin will take place between mid-Sept to mid-Nov 2015 for presentation of the results to the CEC MB by the year end.

TDG-L-112 – New Elastomer Test

There was a delay on delivery of some Elastomer sheets but they have now been received.  Discussions took place on the problem of batch to batch variation of elastomer sheets. A plan to introduce a new system of checking each batch, similar to that used in the USA, will be considered for introduction into the new CEC L-112 Test Method.

SG-L-014 – Mechanical Shear Stability

ACEA will check the need for either an upgrade or a continuation with the current test method.

SG-L-036 – High Temperature High Shear

ACEA will check the need for this test and will advise if the temperature should be extended to 100 degC or if, the test could be made obsolete. Any extension to this test will be postponed until responses have been received.

SG-T-045 – Shear Stability by Tapered Roller Bearing Rig

The group’s SDG Liaison Officer will liaise with his SDG colleagues to devise a Design of Experiment to understand the scope of the testing necessary to establish a Precision Statement and report back at the next SG-T-045 meeting, September 2015. This is supported by the CEC Management Board who would require a detailed proposal to ascertain whether the current group could extend the test on a voluntary basis, or whether a new TDG would be preferable. A report back to the CEC Management Board meeting is expected in November.

SG-F-098 – DW10

The concern that supply of injectors for this test will be exhausted by end 2016 will be discussed at the Group’s meeting on 16th September and a plan of how to handle this problem will be reported back to the CEC Management Board.

SPG for Wear in GDi Engines

Uwe Zimmer of Infineum has agreed to be nominated as Chairman and the CEC Management Board endorses his appointment, subject to his unanimous appointment by the Group Members at the first meeting.

Goodbye from IAS

After almost 14 years of supplying Secretariat Services to CEC, it is time to say goodbye.  We would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your help over the years.  It has enabled us to work with the CEC Management Board to put in place processes that hopefully support you in your work in the CEC Groups.  It has been a pleasure to work with you.  Best Wishes, Lyn, Barry & Jenny – Interlynk Administrative Services Ltd
